Originally due to the harsh desert climate of their foundation, the Corsani became tribal and nomads, heavily reliant on the sparse rivers and inland sea for survival. As the Corsani began to understand and utilize the mystical elements left behind by the Goddess in the creation of the world, commonly referred to as magic, using its potency to bolster its society’s growth. This would result in the reduction of their dependency on the Astanians in the reliance of trade agreements. Their initial kingdom was and is still known as the country of Corsano.
Populated at first by nomadic tribes and other groups, cities began to blossom around sources of water within much of the arid region. It wasn’t until the magical-based sciences and technologies were developed to innovate the standard methodology to grow crops and other food sources making it more efficient to transport and harvest.
The Corsani culture predates to over 10,000 years in the current notation of the Standard Era (SE)
- Corsanae – The language of those who originally settled in Corsano.
- Somini – known as the language of the Trifecta-tongued; of those who live under the rule of the Trifecta Alliance
Author Note: Contrivi due to the historical context of a civil war is equally settled by both Corsani and Astanians and is often referred in present context to a Corsani kingdom.
Habitat and population
Mountain Ranges, arid Deserts, semi-arid deserts, dry shrubbery, some grasslands scattered loosely near large water sources.
Adobe or mud based dwellings in the desert environments with heavy blankets to insulate windows and sometimes doorways for most people. Due to the lack of wooden based materials, beds are sometimes inlaid into the structure with simple mattress and blankets. Fireplaces are common with a strive for multi-use with cooking elements. It is common for stonework to be used in places where stone is readily available. Near the mountainous regions sometimes more Astanian-like structures exist due to abundance of trees and other resources.
Trade and economics
Jewelry making is a notable and highly regarded trade from within the Corsani and their metalworking is almost on par with the famed Astanians in the same profession. In the current world, the coastal regions offer fishing and economic based trading which is highly sought after. Woven crafts such as weaving, sewing and tailoring are highly sought after.
Veritrifecta (‘True’ Trifecta) – Centered around the Trifecta based Government based System with the only difference is that the government are led by the Order of the Guardians instead of the Sect in a Patriarchal based rule. (Oversight by the military rather than the Religious Majority)
Laws and set regulations in use of magic is confined to three of the four known arts and sub-variants classifications: Holy, Arcane, and Combat Arts. Emphasis in Holy Arts for control and oversight of Magi (in particular anti-casting techniques and methods).
A lot of the same family-based structure such as the Astanians except that women are regarded as non-equal and confined towards raising of new generations. Family trades are passed from Father to son if possible but never to a woman. Higher preference towards having a son to continue Family legacy. Having no males offspring is said to be a sign of bad luck or omen for a more established branch line.
Order of the Guardians with those of highest rank obtained through training and work through the advanced specialized ranking system of Anti-magic units known as ordained Sentinels. Sentinels are trained and groomed for anti-magic combat and must meet specific qualifications and minimal mana pool retention to be able to place in the examination process.
All troops without an affinity for magic are placed into a general battalion rank system that limits those without magic affinity’s career obtainment. Very organized and set in traditions and values as a military formation with emphasis on discipline.
Note on combat:
The even more aggressive counterpart to Astanians, Corsani are quick and unpredictable in combat. Known for brutal methods to gain the upper hand, Corsani sometimes are known by the Astanians as barbaric in methods and natural tricksters.
Balanced in ranged and close quarters combat, Corsani tend to be practical and trained in varying degrees of fighting and techniques to gain ground through any force or tactic without hesitation.
Due to the climate and high temperatures, Corsani fashion is based in lighter textiles such as cotton and silk. Men usually wear embellished tunics and pants with metallic or rich colored threads with woven designs and patterns on the cuffs and edges. Ornate belts are common and highly regarded in Corsano as a way to show wealth and style. Women tend to focus on fashion over function with rich colorful silk dresses with sweeping cuffs and flowing skirts. Shoes made from light materials such as cotton or sandals are most common, although men usually prefer leather boots. Mountainous regions will deviate towards heavier linen/canvas and even wool for garments – sometimes even animal furs for higher societal members. Military ranks tend to focus on leather and mixed armor with a prefer for lightweight styles over bulky.
Jewelry is worn by most Corsani, specifically silver or golden jeweled bracelets that are passed down through generations. Earrings range from large hoops to gem stone based designs that dangle past jawline.
